Meet the Artist Behind NHCC's Newest Art Exhibit: Civilized Wildlings

Whether spinning her own tales, chronicling observations from the world of clay and the world at large, or facilitating others’ voices through word and form, Jill Foote-Hutton has always been committed to the craft of storytelling. As of January 2020, she was appointed as the Editor of The Studio Potter. Born and raised by the descendants of hillbillies, Jill is an artist following in the tradition of medicine woman and storyteller through her creative practice dubbed Whistlepig Studio.

Moira Bateman is an abstract artist, who enjoys working with shapes and natural found materials. This year, she was chosen to be a guest artist in part of NHCC's “Stages of Equity” initiative to give diversity a more equitable place within our campus programing. Willis Gilliard is an emerging photographer in north Minneapolis. This year, he was chosen to be a guest artist in part of NHCC's “Stages of Equity” initiative to give diversity a more equitable place within our campus programing. You can view Willis' documentary photographic artwork, Divine Animal, in a Virtual Opening on November 5, from 5:30-7 p.m.

On Wednesday, August 29, North Hennepin Community College hosted its annual County Fair. Students, staff and faculty enjoyed free food and games, including a dunk tank, bean bag toss, giant connect four, blow-up-games, caricatures, hammer shot and more!
